Greetings Everybody,
You may have all heard the saying, “You are what you eat”, which roughly means; make healthy eating choices and stay healthy. Just as important and often overlooked is another aspect of our daily lives, “You are what you think” – what I mean by this is that your thinking can work both ways here. Just as you can have healthy thinking, you can also have unhealthy thinking especially when it comes to self-worth.
Now firstly we as individuals are all naturally adept at some things and may find others a bit more challenging. Just as I’ve found a natural gift within myself for listening to others, to this day I still find it quite challenging with grouting tile. This is ok; accept that you are naturally proficient at some tasks and yet find others a complete challenge. This is what makes you, you and accepting and understanding this is a healthy way of thinking.
Unhealthy thinking occurs when we take these same aspects that we accomplish and start placing a considerable amount of judgment and criticism on them. Saying such things to ourselves as I’m not good at this, I wish I could be better; I’m never going to be any good, If only I could be as good as this other person are all just misunderstandings of the situation. Overall the misunderstandings can add up and re-compound over the years and eventually we start taking these illusions we have told ourselves as fact.
Understand that everyone including you has their own natural gifts and talents. The key is to not beat yourself over the head over tasks you find difficult and challenging. The more you keep telling yourself and thinking you are not good at this or that the more you won’t be given your creating your experience. Remember the only way a person can get good at something is through experience and only fails at something when they don’t even try.
So make sure each and every day that you eat healthy and think healthy and you just might be surprised and delighted with the results. Realize you are naturally talented at some things and find a challenge with others. This is what makes you the unique and beautiful individual that you are here today. If you find it challenging to think healthy or find yourself facing a mountain of unhealthy thoughts, let’s have a chat and get you to where you want to be in life.
May you all be well in spirit and health.
